Comic creator David Leach special guest for MediaHubUK event

Comics artist, writer and editor David Leach is a special guest at MediaHubK in Cookham,Berkshire, in October.

A cartoonist and editor “with a larger than life personality” David is the creator of the cartoon character, Psycho Gran and has edited Titan Comics Dan Dare series, written Wallace & Gromit, and much more. He’ll be leading a mini cartoon-workshop on the night and will also be revealing what it was like being a contestant on Come Dine With Me. So don’t miss out on an evening that promises to take the chill out of your October, book your ticket now.

From 9.00pm onwards there will be the chance to network and catch up with MediaHub members’ news, a very friendly bunch who include print journalists, magazine editors, writers, radio producers, reporters, TV directors, Social Media experts, marketing and PR professionals, actors, singers and poets.

If you need some creative inspiration, get along and bounce some ideas off other professionals in the industry and discuss future collaborations. Over the last five years, some great working partnerships have come about during this part of the evening.

Cookham village is on the A4094 between Maidenhead and Bourne End. Cookham railway station, at Cookham Rise, is on the Marlow to Maidenhead branch line. Most trains require a change at Maidenhead.

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
