Alberto Foche Duarte (aka Alberto Foche, born 19th December 1979) is possibly best known to regular downthetubes readers for his work for Marvel, and as the artist who drew the Titan Comics Dan Dare mini series, He Who Dares, written by Peter Milligan, collected in 2018.
Alberto is a two-time winner of the annual Asociación Mutantes Paseantes contest, based in San Roque, Cádiz, and once in the City of Algeciras. In 2002, he received an accésit in the Prix de Comics of the Junta de Andalucía.
Self taught, Alberto, represented by the Radebu: Comic Book Author Agency, saw his first comics work appeared in Wet Cómics, for Malaga-based Spanish publishers Editorial Megamultimedia, in 1996.
He then contributed comics to Eros Magazine, in 2002 and Crónicas de Mesene la caida del águila, in 2004, for another Spanish publisher, Dolmen editorial.

In 2011, he contributed a chapter entitled “Solano”, the story of a disgraced mayor, to “Doce del Doce” written by Rafa Marín, a graphic history of Cadiz commissioned by the Diputación of Cádiz, available to read online here (in Spanish).
Between 2012 and 2016, concurrently with his career as an artist, he joined the Dipartimento d’arte di Amusement Logic, a Valencian company involved in the design and construction of theme and water parks, as a designer, conceptual artist and 3D modeller.

His past work includes art on Dreadlocks, a comic book miniseries for US publisher Urban Style Comics, written by Andre Batts, illustration work on the Mutants and Masterminds roleplaying game from Green Ronin Publishing, and, of course, Dan Dare: He Who Wins, for Titan Comics.

In 2019, he worked on the Alien Race science fiction series for the New York-based publisher 451 Media Group. The project, written by Grant Pierce Myers, Gavin Hignight, and Matthew Garland had a release date of 2020, but although still listed on the company’s web site, the publisher itself has not been active on its web channels for a long time. A promotional video created by Ryan Farley indicates it’s a story similar in concept to projects such as The Hunger Games – with aliens.
Sadly, Alberto himself tells us, although he drew two and a half books for the publisher they paid for just one, then ceased communication, and the book was never published.
For Marvel, Alberto has worked on a wide range of titles, including various annuals featuring a wide range of the company’s superheroes, including The Avengers, the Fantastic Four and Spider-man, Bishop: War College, Black Panther Unconquered, Midnight Sons and X-Corp.

Last year, he launched his latest creator-owned project, Deep Space Raiders, through his subscriber-based Patreon channel.
“Working on the sketches for this project is especially fun for me,” he teased of the project. “I hope that little by little and with [subscriber] support, one day it can see the light. It mixes concepts that have always attracted me… deep space treasure hunting, ancient civilisations, mysteries and fun action with a ‘Pulp’ touch.”
