Comics will be mashing with some top comedy in Kendal in May, coming together for this year’s Freerange Comedy Festival.
Barney Farmer of VIZ fame, co-creator of the darkly hilarious “Drunken Bakers”, will be rubbing shoulders with top touring comics such as Arthur Smith, Nick Revell and Mark Steel, thanks to support from the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.
Taking place 18th – 20th May 2018, the event also sports a free VIZ film night (offering “three films so rubbish we’ll pay you to come and watch them”), as well as appearances by some of the UK’s top touring comics and shows.
Also on the line up is John Robertson’s “The Dark Room” – an opportunity to play the world’s first live-action text-based adventure game. Described as a choose-your-own-adventure, “The Dark Room” blurs the lines between comedy and game show and the audience play as contestants.
Each year, comedy stand up takes over Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre for several days of performances and events. You’ll always see the UK’s top touring comics on the programme, along with acclaimed shows from Edinburgh Festival and much more.
A regular part of the the town’s year round events programme that includes Lakes International Comic Art Festival in October, this year’s Freerange Comedy Festival is taking a new direction focusing on bespoke, Fringe-style events.
