Comics Salopia returns to Shrewsbury in style this weekend, with the launch of the Shrewsbury Comics Trail, a brilliant idea combining nine life sized art pieces created by ten world famous comic artists and writers.
The brainchild of the Comics Salopia team, the Trail is the result of their partnership with Shrewsbury Town Council, Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury BID, and aims to bring you an exciting life sized comic art trail.
Launching this Saturday, 24th July, accompanied by a number of comic creator appearances around the town, this huge trail is a free entry, interactive experience that will entice you to and around the beautiful town of Shrewsbury, telling a story that you can be a part of.
Look out, too, workshops galore (which are ticketed), but above all, plenty of fun, inclusive and inspiring events for all ages.
Comic creators involved in this year’s Comics Salopia include Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner, artist Charlie Adlard, writer-artist Hannah Berry, artist Doug Braithwaite, writer-artist Al Davison, comics/manga illustrator and author of many drawing guides Sonia Leong, comics writer, artist and book illustrator Sarah McIntyre, writer-artist Rachael Smith, writer-artist Lew Stringer, and more.
Join in, using the hash tag #ComicsTrail2021, and take selfies of yourself with the art for a chance to be entered into a monthly draw to win an amazing prize on the Sabrina Little Rea picnic boat.
Comics Salopia is an inspiring and bold innovation modelled on the Angouleme comics festival in France, the third largest comic festival in the world, attracting over a quarter of a million visitors to a small town the size of Shrewsbury. The organisers aim to deliver a truly international arts festival to Shrewsbury biannually, on the first weekend in June.
