While the team behind the new ComicScene UK magazine may have only planned that the title be subscription only when they launched it, everything has changed – rapidly.
After releasing a brilliant promotional #0 earlier this year, the magazine caught the attention of comic shop owners, with both Forbidden Planet chains both quickly striking deals with publisher Tony Foster to stock the title.
With its focus on British comics past and present, containing news, features, an opinion column from 2000AD creator Pat Mills and much more, the title has already built a growing audience, and Tony has told downthetubes he has plenty of great ideas for the magazine’s content, planning well ahead in to 2019.
Now, Diamond Comic Distributors have confirmed they can provide the new ComicScene UK magazine to over 400 comic and speciality shops.
“We are very pleased Diamond approached us to distribute ComicScene UK,” says Tony, “making it more accessible to comic and speciality shops who want copies of the magazine.
“We have seen pre-launch copies and Issue One selling out in many of the 35 initial stores who showed an interest direct with us. One store in London sold over 50 copies, despite having given out 300 copies for free during our free comic book day promotion!
“We hope many store owners and their customers will support what is now the only dedicated monthly magazine about comics and comic culture in the UK.”
Issue Two of ComicScene UK features 80 years of the Beano, on sale 5th September, Issue Three War comics and the current Issue One celebrates women creators, characters and classic girls comics.
