US publisher Dark Horse will release a paperback edition of EC Archives: The Complete Valor in August, featuring a foreword by artist P. Craig Russell.

The EC Archives: The Complete Valor

Featuring a cover by Wally Wood and Al Feldstein, the collection, published in hardback in 2017, follows the upcoming remastered re-release of The EC Archives: The Complete Extra next month, and titles already available such as Incredible Science Fiction, and The EC Archives: Panic Volume 1, out next week.

The Valor collection collects the complete run of the short-lived bi-monthly EC title published in 1955, offering “timeless comics tales of daring combat and deeds of honour, set in many different periods of world history, from the heroic and legendary”, which ran for just five issues.

It’s an opportunity to enjoy the art of artists Carl Wessler, Bernie Krigstein, Graham Ingels, Wally Wood, Al Williamson, Joe Orlando, Reed Crandall, and George Evans in one nifty reasonably priced 168 page volume, and is available to preorder now (AmazonUK Affiliate Link)

By way of a taster, here’s “Return of King Arthur”, drawn by Wally Wood, which ran in Valor #1.

Wallace ‘Wally’ Wood is well known for his expressive and influential work in various EC Comics titles such as Weird Fantasy and Weird Science, as well as his long-running humour work in MAD magazine. His decades-spanning career included work for comics, advertising, books, and magazines across all genres.
