Crowdfunding Spotlight: Horror Anthology, SHRIEEEK! returns, with Marvel’s Dell Barras on board

The team at Birmingham-based Shrieeek Comic are back seeking support for SHRIEEEK! #3: Those Pesky Kids – the latest issue of their horror anthology – and have already smashed their modest Kickstarter target.

SHRIEEEK! #3: Those pesky kids cover by Dell Barras and David Metcalfe-Carr

The third issue of SHRIEEEK! offers new stories and new creators to the project – and a great collection of horror, creepiness and disturbing stories, fronted by a cover from Marvel legend, Dell Barras.

“We are honoured to include Dell Barras to the fold,” enthuses Shrieeek Comic publisher and editor David Metcalfe-Carr. “Dell started his career in comics in the 1980s. Since then he’s drawn for Marvel US and UK, DC and various other companies as well as having a career in animation. He’s worked with the legendary Neal Adams, took over Deaths Head II from Liam Sharp and took on Conan, Spider-man, Blue Beetle and my favourite, Marvel UK’s Motormouth and Killpower.

“Dell’s going to be contributing regularly and it is a true honour. You can pledge for his cover and pages of his art from the issue.”

SHRIEEEK! #3: Those pesky kids also includes a strip written by John A. Short whose many projects include the recently-published anthology, Shokwave.

Vibing off the UK anthologies of David’s youth such as Scream, Misty and Eagle, SHRIEEEK! issue 3 has six more stories to make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and put a strange sensation in your stomach.

“Any Resemblance” by Rol Hirst and Dell Barras – Who is the mysterious Wage Slave and what has he to do with a young writer who’s just had his first book published?
“Black Sight” by John A. Short and Nigel Lowrey – A Secret Service agent tries to get information from a hooded prisoner, but he won’t like the answers to his questions.
“Beware!” Alan Holloway and Ed Doyle – A little tale about a little dog.
“Suzie and the Tyrannosaurus” by Dan Pollard and Ed Doyle – Suzie dreams of dinosaurs, but should she really be worrying about work?
“The Faceless Creep” – NYPD Whoooooooo! as the city’s finest investigate strange goings on by our European neighbours, Shrieeek! newcomers, Christoff RDGZ and Gregory Floch
“On a Storyteller’s Night” by Alan Holloway and Dave Metcalfe-Carr – It’s 1982, it’s snowing and who is that weird old guy sat alone in the corner at The Storyteller’s?

David’s had previous success on Kickstarter with Being A Girl, described by Kieron Gillen as “great work”, Shrieeek, England Made Me and Modern Life Is Rubbish. All have been completely fulfilled. He’s also been part of other successful campaigns run by others including Sentinel, Falcon and the Switchblade Stories Special.
