Crowdfunding Spotlight: New publisher, Comixery, launches new horror titles

Prepare yourself for a double creature comic feature, as brand new publisher, Comixery, unleashes its Monster Universe! Two tales of spine tingling suspense await you, and they look absolutely brilliant.

Seeking backing on Kickstarter, the first issues of both books are fully finished, and production on the remaining four issues of the initial five-part arcs is well underway. But the team, obviously, need your support to get these books “out there” and in your hands…

If you’re a fan of classic monsters – vampires, werewolves, Bigfoot, and swamp creatures – prepare for something truly new. This reimagined collection, the work of some terrific independent comic talent, puts a bold twist on these familiar beasts, delivering a chilling experience like no other. Dive into tales that will redefine everything you thought you knew about these iconic creatures.

Comixery: Monsters breathes new life into timeless myths, giving them a modern edge with unexpected twists. These classic creatures are reimagined in surprising ways, offering fresh perspectives on the legends we thought we understood.

Syntharbor, the mysterious force that gives rise to these strange new monsters, is at the heart of this transformation. Its organic, dangerous connection to the world through consciousness and liminal space blurs the boundaries between reality and the unknown, grounding the creatures in hidden layers of existence.

Launching with two epic, 24-page issues, Comixery: Monsters sets the stage for an unforgettable journey into a shared universe where horror and intrigue collide.

Foliate #1 (Comixery, 2024)
Foliate #1 (Comixery, 2024)

In Foliate #1, something dark and ancient stirs on a mysterious island where nature feels alive. The flora and fauna hide secrets, and survival means more than escaping predators – there’s something much worse lurking in the woods. As the island’s visitors uncover its terrifying past, they find themselves caught in a creeping nightmare where the boundary between man and nature dissolves.

Written by Mike Sambrook and Rob Jones (Griff Gristle, Horrere, Papercuts & Inkstains), with eerie, atmospheric art by Gavin Mitchell (Spatchcock, The Berg), Foliate #1 pulls you into a chilling mystery where the island itself may be the real threat.

Fangwild #1 (Comixery, 2024)
Fangwild #1 (Comixery, 2024)

Fangwild #1 introduces us to a new breed of vampire, one that stands at the edge of survival. Hunted relentlessly, these vampires are forced into a deadly game of cat and mouse. But the rules of the hunt are not as simple as they seem, and danger is closing in from all sides. The Doctor will see you now.

Written by Matthew Hardy (Thunder ChildCyberarchy) with haunting visuals by Hus Ozkan (HellraiserNowhere GenerationSleepwalking), Fangwild #1 brings a fresh and thrilling take on the vampire mythos, where every choice could mean life or death.

Comixery: Monsters brings a fresh twist to horror storytelling by embracing the classic newsprint format for our new series of comics,” the creative outline. “This format, widely used during the golden age of comics, captures the nostalgic essence of a bygone era, delivering a tactile and authentic reading experience.

“By blending vintage aesthetics with contemporary horror themes, we’re paying homage to the roots of comic book history while offering something truly unique for modern readers.”

We’ve had the privilege of reading the first two issues, and the quality on both books is top notch: unsettling scripts, great art combined. A lot of hard work has cleared gone into these projects and we hope they are a success for the Comixery creatures…er, team!
