Plucked from the pages of the independent British comic anthologies The77 and Pandora comes the first issue of Penny Pentagram, a 32 page US format comic in full colour, written by David Thomas, with full colour art and lettering by Andrew Richmond.
In this story, currently seeking backing on Kickstarter, Penny’s feeling the pinch and working in a chicken shop to make ends meet until they one day take a fateful call. A phone call that changes their future, and could possibly give them answers to questions about their family’s past!
Penny, while holding down dead-end jobs and trying to solve occult mysteries by night, is contacted by their handler, ‘Wraith’, and sent on an action-filled, spooky but dangerous mission to find the evil mastermind criminals who have just escaped prison…
Imagine if you will, Penny Pentagram are the offspring of Buffy Summers and John Constantine dealing out whacks to werewolves, and stakes to vampires. Mixing and mingling with minor royalty, everyday folks, and sometimes communing with the dead.
Their first appearance in comics was in the pages of #1 of The77 Comic, which lead to a regular strip, with Andrew Richmond taking over art duties. They also appeared in The77 Annual #1& #2 and in Pandora – Comic Anthology, gracing the standard cover.
A story about a young Penny Pentagram, ‘Li’l Penny’has also appeared in the first issue of the 77 Publishing’s all-ages comic, LOLZ.
“Penny has come a long way in the past four years, and became a firm fan-favourite,” says fundraiser, writer Jo Heeley. “77 Publishing is proud to announce that there will be a quartet of Penny Pentagram comics, showcasing a brand-new story arc by David Thomas and packaged in a handy, US-size comic book format. With fantastic art by Andrew Richmond (The77 Comic, Pandora – Comic Anthology, BLAZER!, Monster Fun! and many more) and with our fantastic guest artist Stephen Reid providing the variant cover, this is one series that you can’t miss out on.”
Rewards for this Kickstarter include the offer of a variant cover by Stephen Reid, and Penny Pentagram t-shirts. As a bonus for backing this new comic, every backer will receive a free copy of The77 or This Comic is Haunted! from The77 Publications.
