A new book from the brilliant Hunt Emerson is always a treat, and Phenomenomix should be no different, a project currently seeking funding for on Kickstarter.

A 224-page hardcover collection of comics pages about Unexplained Phenomena, Hunt has been drawing these pages for Fortean Times magazine since the mid-1980s.

“They’re about the weird things that happen in the world,” Hunt expands, “Vampires, Ghosts, Faeries, UFOs, Werewolves, Folk Beliefs, Miracles, Mystery Smells, Unknown Animals, Megaliths – all put through my comics filter…. well, they make me laugh!”

“There are a number of Rewards available, including original artwork pages,” Hunt says. “If you’re interested in the original art offer, contact me through Kickstarter for a PDF showing what pages are available. I’m putting up 10 pages to start with, but this may be added to.”

Hunt’s career spans all-ages comics like the Beano as well as more adult fare with projects like his “Calculus Cat” strips, which ran in Escape (and elsewhere), strips for Fortean Times and the odd literary adaption including The Rime of The Ancient Mariner.

His more recent work includes the brilliant Bloke’s Progress and Lives of the Great Occultists (both with late Kevin Jackson, who, sadly, died earlier this year).
