It should come as no surprise to downthetubes readers that 2000AD artist Ian Richardson’s Kickstarter to raise funds for an art book has completely smashed its original target. But in case you missed it, there’s still time to back The Art of Ian Richardson (Volume One), right now.

Collecting over 130 pages of artwork, everything contained within this new A4, perfect bound book has never been seen in print, in any publication, ever before, a compilation of commissions, large and small, as well as personal warm-up pieces and colour pieces with the assistance of colourists.

Ian Richardson has been a professional comic book artist since 2001, with his first published work appearing in 2000AD on a “Sinister Dexter” story with Dan Abnett. Since then he has worked on an impressive plethora of titles, including Image Comics Noble Causes, Platinum’s Cowboys & Aliens, the Panini UK line of Captain America, The Falcon, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Luke Cage, and Modok – and, of course, he continues to work on “Judge Dredd” and similar titles for 2000AD to this day.
The project is the brainchild of Unlikely Heroes Studios, an independent comic book company with a team spread out all over America who create, print, and publish high-quality comics, and have run several successful crowdfunders.
This project is well worth a look, so check it out here!
