Doctor Who Magazine has announced the upcoming release of a new bookazine, Daleks – The Ultimate Guide, arriving from Panini direct on Thursday 21st November 2024 – which the publishers describe as “one of the most comprehensive and revealing history of the Daleks ever published”.
Offered in an exclusive slipcase this deluxe, 224-page limited edition title is packed full of exclusive content, including all new features and rare images from the official archive. Explore the history of the Doctor’s greatest enemies, from 1963 to the present day.
Daleks: The Ultimate Guide traces the creatures’ evolution, from writer Terry Nation’s original story outline and Raymond Cusick’s design blueprint, right up to the present day.
Edited by Marcus Hearn, the author of the New York Times bestseller Doctor Who: The Vault, this official Doctor Who publication has been compiled with full access to the BBC’s archive of images and behind-the-scenes documents. It features information on on every Dalek TV story and film, from 1963 to the present day. Also included are details of Dalek appearances in books, comic strips, audio productions and other shows.

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
