Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed! The Musical – First Tour Dates Announced

The first tour dates for the new Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed! The Musical have been revealed, opening in Aylesbury in January, at the Waterside Theatre, with dates also announced in Birmingham, Glasgow London, Manchester and more.

A production from Selladoor Family in partnership with Beano Studios and written and directed by Will Brenton, Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed: The Musical is based on the legendary Beano comic characters and the No. 1 animated CBBC series. Featuring live music and pranks, it tells the story of the mischievous twosome and their best friends the Dinmakers; Rubi, JJ and Pieface.

Their mission is to save Beanotown from the grips of the evil W Corps.. a family musical perfect for pranksters young and old!

As we previously reported, the family friendly show,has been developed by Selladoor, the company behind the upcoming Oor Wullie musical which opens at Dundee Rep in November (before also going on tour), Little Shop of Horrors, Madagascar the Musical and Avenue Q, and will take on a year-long tour of over 40 theatres and venues across the UK and Ireland.

BAFTA-winning writer/producer-director Will Brenton, whose many credits include the Doctor Who! The Monsters are Coming! arena tour, is on board to write the show, which will feature Dennis and Gnasher’s hallmark slapstick comedy, delivered with a repertoire of songs.

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
