Doctor Who: Panel to Panel host Jeremy Bement has announced he is bringing his podcast dedicated to Doctor Who comics to a close – but will relaunch with a wider brief in the near future.
Thanking listeners for their support since the podcast began back in 2014, Jeremy singled out archivist Paul Scoones, author and comic creator Paul Cornell, comic creator Faiz Rehman for their support of his dedicated podcast.
Across ten busy years and 180-plus episodes, Jeremy has interviewed almost every living creator involved in creating or charting the history of Doctor Who comics; with Roger Langridge, Nick Abadzis, Richard Starkings and Lee Sullivan among the first to talk about their work on the long-running franchise; and Cavan Scott, Jake Devine, Ian Winterton and Dan Watters among the most recent.
Reflecting on Panini UK’s completion of its collections of almost every Doctor Who Weekly/ Monthly and Doctor Who Magazine comic strips, and the reduction in the number of strips starring the Doctor now being published, Jeremy feels the time is right to bring Panel to Panel to a close on platforms such as Podomatic by the end of 2024, although all episodes, will still be available via the Internet Archive.
The good news is that although moving on from specifically covering Doctor Who comics, Jeremy plans to return with “The World of Doctor Who” in future, a new podcast that will include comic creators as and when new strips are published.
I’m sure there are plenty of comic fans and Doctor Who fans who would like to join us here at downthetubes in thanking Jeremy for all his hard work over the past ten years documenting the history of Doctor Who comics – and we look forward to seeing what he brings us in future.
