There’s a new Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons Limited Edition Blu-Ray out now that is definitely an item comic fans will want to track down, featuring an all-new comic based on the show – and much more.
One of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s best-loved series, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons brought a new level of realism and sophistication to Century 21’s endlessly popular Supermarionation productions. To mark its fiftieth anniversary, the series has been remastered in HD from the original 35mm film elements by Network for a special Blu-ray edition.

Just released is a special deluxe edition of Volume 4, limited to 1250 units, which has rapidly sold out on the Network site – but copies are still available from the official Gerry Anderson web site (links below).
Even if you don’t have a Blu-Ray player, this release is definitely of interest to comics fans, since not only does it include a set of art prints of Ron Embleton‘s end credit paintings and cover art (and a poster) by TV Century 21 artist Mike Noble and Lee Sullivan but a limited edition Captain Scarlet comic, too, written by Martin Cater with art by Martin Baines and Paul McCaffrey.

If you miss out on this, then you may be interested in the Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons: The Complete Series Blu-Ray, scheduled for general release this October, hot on the heels of new Joe 90 products.
Martin Cater has hinted to downthetubes that there may be some more Gerry Anderson-related comics on their way in future Network releases, but we don’t have any more details just yet.
