Voting has begun in the ComicScene Awards 2024, and downthetubes is among the nominees, included in the category of Best Comic Media, alongside a wide range of other sites and podcasts now featuring British comics coverage.

You can cast your here, this year’s awards including Favourite Comic, Best Comic Adaptation, Best New Talent, Best Web Comic and several more categories to vote for.
“We received 500 per cent more nominations in this record breaking year,” says ComicScene publisher Tony Foster, who recently relaunched the print magazine, and is seeking crowdfunding for the next issue, due for release in Spring 2024.
“These awards are voted for by fans and creators. You have until the 31st January to place your votes. You don’t have to vote in every category but you do have to give us your name and email to verify your vote.
If you have been nominated congratulations,” he emphasises.”Feel free to promote your nomination and get those votes in. This year, people can also vote for their Best Of All Time comics and creators.”
The winners will be announced in the Spring Issue of ComicScene Magazine and at the end of the survey you are asked to support the Kickstarter.
“Your pledge helps fund all the work we do from the magazine to the website to the awards,” says Tony. “We hope the magazine and awards will be announced this year during Will Eisner Week (1st – 7th March 2024).”

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
