Running until the end of March, London’s Orbital Comics is hosting an exhibition of pages from publisher DK’s latest title Fearless and Fantastic! — a who’s-who of female Marvel superhero character profiles.
This collection profiles dozens of aspirational female comic-book characters, all of whom use their strength, intelligence and courage to help others. Fierce fan-favourites such as Captain Marvel, Gamora and Storm feature alongside little-known faces from all corners of the Marvel comic-book universe.
A tribute to Marvel’s most powerful women featuring 50 incredible female Super Heroes and a treasured gift for comics fans, old and new, discover modern, diverse heroes they can relate to and look up to, including America Chavez and Kamala Khan.
Illustrated with stunning comic-book artwork, each character’s short biography is carefully curated to focus on the character’s abilities and achievements.
Described as a book for girls and women of all ages DK hopes Fearless and Fantastic! will create new fans of comics, as well as inspiring comic-book creators of the future.
Copies of Fearless and Fantastic! are available in store, as well as a wealth of Marvel’s greatest female-led graphic novels.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
