The Felt Mistress: Chroma Zoners exhibition at the new ōH Chester Design Foundation has been extended until the end of August.
Chroma Zoners is an exhibition of new characters and wall-hangings by Felt Mistress who will be known to many downthetubes readers for her work with Jonathan Edwards for events such as the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.
An acclaimed Welsh textile artist, Felt Mistress, aka Louise Evans, creates a range of one-off bespoke creatures with her partner, illustrator Jonathan Edwards. Originally trained in fashion design and millinery, Louise has brought many of the skills learnt through years of work as a couture dress maker to the world of character design and soft sculpture.
Her work has been exhibited all over the world including shows in Tokyo, Osaka, Los Angeles, Mexico, Paris, Berlin and London and used in Fashion shoots, ad campaigns, music videos and films.
Chroma Zoners offers a group of neon-hued dudes exploring colour, texture and pattern. Vivid colour clashes juxtaposed with monochromatic, sculptural shapes. Some are being offered for sales in the ōH Chester Design Foundation webshop.
A book to accompany the exhibition, featuring characters and their bios, is available from the Felt Mistress web shop.
ōH Chester Design Foundation is a newly formed community interest company social enterprise committed to supporting the growth and development of the creative industries in Chester. Their objectives are to champion local talent, empower growth and drive positive change so that a sustainable place on Chester’s high street is a genuine reality and migrating to Liverpool, Manchester or London to progress is optional – not conditional.
