On sale now on all good newsagents the second issue of Football Galaxy from Shubrook Bros. Media. It’s a new 40-page magazine title for kids, blending comic strip by Nigel Parkinson with plenty of features on the game itself.
“Football Galaxy is an awesome new mag aimed at footy crazed kids and is packed with all the things they love,” say the publishers.
Issue 2 is a bumper issue with gifts including a giant Balotelli poster,
three packs of stickers and a sticker album and a gaming disc.
At present, there’s only information on the website about the magazine, but the site itself includes sections for an ‘Academy’ (which will presumably offer football training tips in due course) and ‘Gaming’.
Shubrook Bros. Creative, whose clients include Immediate Media and Egmont describes itself as an outsourcing company providing editorial, design and illustration content for some of the world’s leading publishers.
Lew Stringer has a fab overview of the new comic on his blog, noting all the strips are by Nigel Parkinson (with some scripts by Paul J. Palmer) and take place “far away in time and space”, centring around a football team on another planet.
The concept is fun and it’s great to see a football title with a sense of fun about it. Nine pages of comic strip is not to be sniffed at in these days of more feature-based titles for kids.
