Chuck Dixon, acclaimed comic book writer known for his work on such titles as The ‘Nam, Nightwing, Punisher and Batman, will return in 2019 to write new issues of Airboy.

Created by Charles Biro, Dick Wood and artist Al Camy, Airboy is a fictional aviator hero, published by Hillman Periodicals during the 1940s and 50s.

The new comic from It’s Alive – publishers of Red Range and Voyage to the Deep, among other great titles – will be a continuation of Chick Dixon’s epic 50-issue run on Airboy during the 1980s for Eclipse Comics. But while these new stories do connect to that initial run, a big change is coming through the addition of a new character that will completely change the game.

Who that character might be, and much more, will all be revealed in the upcoming Kickstarter campaign to publish the first new issue of Airboy that, if successful, will be drawn by Croatian artist Dalibor Talajic, whose credits include many Marvel titles – most recently, Foolkiller, with Max Bemis.

“I’m beyond thrilled to bring back such a beloved character in all new adventures,” enthuses publisher Drew Ford.
