Expect to see more Beano products on sale this year, with new apparel, games, health and beauty, food and beverage, and partyware items on the way.
Many of the new deals are in response to to Dennis’ 70th birthday in 2021 – with Beano Studios and licensing agency Rocket Licensing planning a raft of celebrations, partnerships and new product launches.
Rocket Licensing recently revealed five new licensing deals including a fun new range of paper partyware from Smiffy’s, who will be offering a myriad of products including paper plates, bowls, cups, napkins and straws, as well as paper decorations and bunting to complete the Beano party set-up. The new range for the company that already sells a huge range of Hallowe’en partyware will be sold across the High Street, grocery, independents and online.
Rocket has also teamed up with Rachel Lowe to create a collection of puzzles, board games and card games for Dennis and his Beanotown friends. The company already produces licensed Wrestlemania and Laurel and Hardy items, and more, the the the new Beano product will be developed to appeal to both the adult gifting market and to kids, reflecting the cross-generational appeal of this classic British brand.
Beano confectionery in personalised packaging will also be created by Great Gifts launching later this year, including gift boxes, jars and advent calendars.
Health and beauty experts H&A will also be developing a creative range of Beano products for boys and girls, which will include everyday essentials, play cosmetics, health and beauty accessories and hair care, launching into high street retail for autumn/winter 2020.
Park Agencies , who already produce apparel inspired by brands as diverse as Alien and Dr. Seuss, are developing on adult and kids t-shirts and sweatshirts for sale on the high street and online retail.

He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
