London’s Gosh! comic shop have been working on some very exciting plans for August to celebrate their 40th anniversary and recently announced their Summer Festival event for kids – featuring some of the best talent and most popular artists working in kids comics.
Several signings will take place throughout the day with Jamie Smart (Bunny vs Monkey), Luke Pearson (Hilda), Tor Freeman (Boss of the Underworld) and Hugh Raine (Beano).
“We’ve got a killer line-up of artists signing in the shop starting with Hugh Raine, creator behind the Beano-published title “Betty and the Yeti”, kicking us off at 12 noon,” say the Gosh! team.
“Our next signing is at 1.00pm with the wonderful Tor Freeman, a cartoonist superstar who most recently released the series Boss of the Underworld. At 2.00pm, we welcome back Luke Pearson, the creator behind the critically acclaimed Hilda series. And finally at 3.00pm, the creator of Bunny vs Monkey, Jamie Smart will be the star of our final signing.
“We can’t wait for this jam-packed day! Come along and meet this superstar line-up of artists on Saturday 1st August, from 12 noon.”

Gosh! expect this event to be very busy and will be operating a queue outside the shop for this event. Please bear this in mind when bringing young children to the event.

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
