With all the media attention for the launch of Halo 3 a spoof cover of a Halo game, which seems to have kicked off around the ‘net in 2004 with the launch of Halo 2, has re-surfaced.
Promotional copy appearing on the image reads: “2000 years ago, you tried to be nice to them. They nailed you to a wooden cross. Now you’re back… and it’s payback time…”
As you can imagine, the image annoyed a few people who couldn’t see the funny side, while others pointed out that the hero’s weapons of choice are totally wrong.
So now it seems the Spoof Game Covers Marketing Deaprtment has assessed this problem, and we’re delighted to reporduce a new version below.
Of course, we’re not sure that’s going to do down very well in some circles either. Chill, righteous dudes – and always look on the bright side of life!
The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
