Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast Episode 87 - Sarah McIntyre

Sarah McIntyre is the first guest of the first Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast of 2021 – an illustrator and comic creator who’s played a major part in past LICAF events in the past, and, we hope, the future.

Illustrator and writer Sarah McIntyre creates comics strips and illustrates picture books, including Grumpycorn and Don’t Call Me Grumpycorn.

She played amajor part in the Festival’s free online LITTLE LICAF event last year for younger comic fans, and has a new chapter book out now, Kevin and the Biscuit Bandit, the third book in their co-authored Roly-Poly Flying Pony series created with Philip Reeve. Her latest solo project, Don’t Call Me Grumpycorn, was released in June.

Sarah discusses her career and the processes she goes through in creating her books in this new podcast, as well as offering some great advice for getting started.

More importantly hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates discuss her hats, as they are just awesome!

Plus, Tom Stewart reviews Neurotic Fiction by Joe Stone and Mike Williams and Pete Taylor reach the penultimate episode of their Comic Genre World Cup series. Nikki and Ian review Gamayun Tales 2 by Alexader Utkin, and have a look at the brand new That Comic Smell Comic which will be released very soon by the That Comic Smell Team.

The LICAF podcast now also has a show sponsor – Buy Small Press Online, the brand new comics marketplace. Looking for a place to purchase the latest in what small press has to offer?
