Inksgiving, a 48-hour event dedicated to giving love and support to your favourite comic creators on the Tapas digital comics platform, will take place from tomorrow, Tuesday 20th November, 12.00am PST and end on Wednesday 21st November 21, 11.59pm PST.
The Inksgiving campaign aims to promote a change in the way fans of comics and their creators on Tapas can back them, by signing on board the community-oriented site and buying “Ink” from the Ink Shop – online or within the Tapas app for mobile devices.
Fans then use “ink” to support their favourite creators by going to the series and tapping on Support. (There’s more information on how this works here on the Tapas App Medium Page).
During the 48-hour period of “Inksgiving”, fans will be gifted back a percentage of their individual contribution of the ink they gave to creators. This year, the community goal is to hit 15 million drops of ink sent in support.
Creators can garner support for Inksgiving by promoting it using the hashtag #Inksgiving on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and elsewhere – and some creators have created special editions of their comics to promote it, too, and some will be included in an upcoming collection to be featured on the Tapas mobile apps.
I’ve got a number of strips on the site, including Crucible, co-created with 2000AD artist Smuzz, which you may want to check out here (Chapter 7 is currently about to hit lettering stage).
Based in San Francisco with a satellite office in Seoul, Korea, Tapas Media is a next generation media company that offers bite-size content through its online mobile platform and boasts over 600 million content views to date, from over one million readers, primarily in North America.
