Jack & Lucy is a 16-page free mini comic written by Rachael Smith, illustrated by Jacob Phillips (editor of The Mancunian Way, a small-press magazine celebrating all things Manc through illustration, writing, design and photography), edited by Tim Pilcher, and designed by Jim Devlin.
Launched at Oldham Comic Con last weekend, Jack & Lucy tells the story of two troubled teens who help each other figure out their problems and is released in Mental Health Awareness Week (14th – 20th May 2018).
Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, this year for Mental Health Awareness Week, the focus is on stress. Research has shown that two thirds of us experience a mental health problem in our lifetimes, and stress is a key factor in this.
Jack & Lucy isn’t the only mental health-related comic in the spotlight right now. Lucy Sullivan’s Barking is a distinctive exploration of mental health crisis and is currently crowdfunding at Unbound Books here.
