It’s crunch time for Dalek maker Julian Vince, who is about to lose his entire collection of Doctor Who related items, and many personal effects, including family mementos and more.

We previously featured a crowdfunder to cover storage fees and save his life’s work – Daleks, photos, props and more – from destruction last month, but the fundraising target hasn’t been met.
The items in store include an original backdrop of the Dalek city featured in the first Daleks TV story, and other incredible rarities.
Right now, Julian is trying to urgently raise just £1500 before Friday (14th March 2025), just to get him back in the storage before it permanently closes down, and his property in the units is destroyed, as they need everything removed.

The only thing Julian has freely available to sell is a 100 per cent genuine Derek Dodd “Dalek gun” that featured in the 1966 Doctor Who story, “The Power of the Daleks”
“I need exactly £1500 – more would help – as the ‘entrance fee’ to get back into my units and try and save things as quickly as possible,” Julian tells downthetubes. “Then I might just save some things. Otherwise it is hopeless. I need money I don’t have, and can’t get anything else out to sell as it’s all trapped in the units.”
Julian sold the Derek Dodd-created Dalek last year, but the little gun is for sale, which is small, but totally 100% genuine. “I bought them as a lot when Derek’s family sold his things off a few years ago,” Julian explains. “This little gun is the only thing I have left now, which is a genuine 1966 original prop.“
