Following up on our post about one of Marvel UK’s ’forgotten’ artists last week, we’re delighted to report that Leigh Baulch has now published more of his vintage and recent art on Facebook and Twitter.
Our feature generated plenty of nostalgia for fans of Marvel UK’s superhero comics, for which Leigh provided covers and posters in the 1980s.
His page includes a glorious study of the mysterious DCI Nightingale from author Ben Aaronovitch’s “Rivers of London” novels – a series which quite coincidentally makes its comics debut next month, drawn by another Marvel UK veteran, Lee Sullivan.
“I’ve been putting together both Facebook and Twitter pages on my art (which sounds amazingly pretentious to me!) for some time now and I’m now ready to launch them,” Leigh tells us, “especially after your piece last week.
“They both go under the ILLEIGHSTRATION nom de plume, which hopefully people will be able to find easily.
“Nightingale took three months from start to finish,” says Leigh, who by day is Operations Director for the Titan Entertainment Group.
“I thought completing it would never end!”
Leigh’s interpretation of DCI Nightingale is based on actor Tom Hiddleston, although Leigh feels some Paul McGann has crept in!
