Here are some of Misty comics artist John Armstrong‘s life studies artworks created in the 1940s, currently up for sale on eBay. I’m selling the work on behalf of John’s family, and here is what’s on offer in this first John Armstrong “Life Studies” Sale.
I’ve included some additional “close ups” where there are multiple figures on a page.
These artworks are some of comics artist John Armstrong’s life drawings created Middlesbrough’s Constantine College in the 1940s, where he graduated in Intermediate Arts and Crafts.
British girls comics artist John Armstrong, who was the co-creator of “Bella at the Bar” for Tammy and “Moonchild” for Misty, died aged 94 in 2018 and this is one of his artworks I am selling on behalf of John’s family.
All these artworks measure 15″ x 22″ on cartridge paper and were drawn in the late 1940s, before John began his career as a commercial artist. His work included book covers, book illustration, set design, girls comics, promotional posters for pantomimes and much more.
