Ewbank’s has two auctions of interest this week, starting with Memorabilia Collectables today, Thursday 8th January 2026 (starting at 11.00am) that includes film posters, music memorabilia and some cigarette and trading cards.
A highlight is surely two “Mr Benn” resin figures by Robert Harrop based on the eponymous children’s TV character still hugely popular today, created by David McKee; the first, “The Clown Car”, one of just a limited edition of 350; and the second, “The Magic Carpet”, one of an even smaller number of figures, just 250 made.

Coming tomorrow is a Vintage Posters auction (Friday 9th January 2026, also starting at 11.00am). This includes a range of classic British horror film posters, Hammer Films (some reproductions), a wide range of Star Wars items, comedy films and other iconic posters, including Batman and Thunderbirds – the latter, a US poster, attracting strong bidding.
The recent passing of actor Richard Roundtree may also be driving interest in two Blaxploitation Film Posters including Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold (1975), starring Tamara Dobson in the title role, and Shaft in Africa (1973), the third in the influential Shaft series.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
