Big Blue Bubble, creators of the best-selling gaming app My Singing Monsters, have signed the master publishing house Egmont UK as its new strategic licensing partner.
The agreement between Egmont and the Canadian video game creators will see the My Singing Monsters property extended into print as well as digital publishing with titles that will include magazines, handbooks, sticker books and sound books, alongside digital applications such as e-books available through the Android Market and Apple’s App Store.
My Singing Monsters is a world-building game where the player collects and breeds adorable monsters. There’s a big difference to this game, however, that sets it far apart from others of the genre; these monsters sing, play, and dance. Each island in the world also has its own song and is packed full of incredibly cute monsters.
The printed collections will be sold at newsagents, bookstores, supermarkets and book clubs along with direct marketing and online retail.
“We fell in love with My Singing Monsters and its amazing art, animation and audio effects,” enthuses Emma Cairns Smith, licence acquisition director at Egmont UK.
“The lush island imagery and the more than 30 monster species featured in the game offer an abundant style guide to utilise, as well as a variety of personalities to bring to life in books.
“We are excited to be My Singing Monsters’ publishing partner. It’s about time there were some new monsters on the block.”
Bryan Davis, director of business development at Big Blue Bubble, added: “We are proud to have entered into an agreement with a children’s publisher as prominent as Egmont.
“We are confident that their expertise in the area will bring My Singing Monsters to life in print, capturing the game’s distinctive visual expression.”
