My abject apologues to the enthusiastic team behind Nerd Hutch, a day long event celebrating some of the UK’s hottest small press and DIY talent taking place tomorrow at the Travelling Man comic shop in Grainger Street, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Hosted on both floors of the Nerd Hutch venue between 11:00am and 11:00pm the event will feature a comics and zine fair, workshops, interactive art installations, talks, film screenings, live music and vegan cakes.
The guest list includes Kristyna Baczynski (A Measure Of Space, Vantage, The Stool Pigeon), Gary Bainbridge (Sugar Glider, Grainger Street, Nightbus), Sarah Broadhurst (One Beat Zines, Double Dare Ya editor), Canny Little Library (Newcastle’s collectively run radical literature library), Jack Fallows (Axolotl, Costume Party – sad asexual emo comics), Gill Hatcher (The Beginner’s Guide To Being Outside, Team Girl Comic founder), the Left Leg Gallery (art questions, art confusion, retinal force to be reckoned with), Euan Lynn (Trash, Rad – music and skating megaforce), Erin McGrath (Illustrator or the likes of Paws, Withered Hand and Holy Mountain), the Paper Jam Comics Collective (a local non-profit group dedicated to opening comics doors to all), John Pearson (Prolific illustrator and live artist, Beast Wagon forthcoming) CJ Reay (Black Lodge Press, Anxious & Worrying), Julia Scheele (VICE, The Guardian, Solipsistic Pop, Double Dare Ya editor), Jef Sinclair (Team Girl Comic, sweet comix with a feminist undercurrent), Neil Slorance (SICBA award winning artist – Dungeon Fun, Doctor Who and The Amateur Astronomer’s Journal), Phoebe Stella Garrick Summers (DIY punk drawings and paintings of sadness and fire), Andrew Waugh (BOO!
