New album, Asterix in Lusitania to get October 2025 release

Asterix in Lusitania by Fabrice Caro (Fabcaro) and Didier Conrad (Little Brown, October 2025)

Pack your bags! Asterix and Obelix are off on a a new adventure – Asterix in Lusitania – this October, in a new adventure by Fabrice Caro (Fabcaro) and Didier Conrad.

Unlike their expedition to the distant snowy steppes seen in Asterix and the Griffin, published in 2021, this story is set in much sunnier climes – this time, the extreme southwest of the Roman empire, a land today known as Portugal, known for its wealth of historical monuments, its culinary delights, and above all, the generosity of its inhabitants.

The creators of the new adventure are keeping the plot close to their chest, Fabcaro teasing only that a former Lusitanian slave we met in The Mansions of the Gods is going to ask our friends for help…

The Mansion of the Gods, by the character’s original creators, René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, first published back in 1971, released as an animated feature in 2014, was the first Asterix book in which Obelix’s pet Dogmatix’s ecological sensitivity is firmly established. (Every time a tree is uprooted, the little dog dissolves in tears).

Asterix: The Mansions of The Gods: Album 17

The latest book is initially being simultaneously published in 19 languages and dialects, with a global five million print run.
