Next month’s Malta Comic Con will see a number of independent comic launches, including guest Tim Perkins Retro-Collection of The Dinoswords – collecting the 12 issues previously printed in the UK, 1990’s anthology comic, Triffik, stories by Tim and James Hill telling a fun-filled series of stories with as big a set of Villains as the Heroes themselves.
This new “Primordial Edition” contains newly revised scripts and some new colour provided by Tim and wrapped in new full colour cover artwork and there’s more information here on the Wizards Keep web site about the release.
Also to be released at the prestigious event is S.T.E.A.M. – Island Under Siege, a self-published title by two Maltese creators – writer Ashley Eric Peschel and artist Peter Magro.
Set against the conflict of the Second World War, something terrifying has been released on the small island of Malta. Realising they are in over their heads, the local authorities request help in tracking a sadistic killer, whose body count already stands at five.
A special team is dispatched to deal with the murderer – and so the hunt begins on the war torn island for a killer that the team soon discover is unlike anything they have encountered before…. If this was not bad enough, the team also have to face off against a mysterious Nazi team, who are also hunting the killer, but for darker reasons.
This 158 page adventure full of action and comedy has been in the works for some time, but the creators are rightly proud of their work and will be talking about the project at a special event at the Convention.
Ashley Eric Peschel has been writing and creating stories since he was a little child. A self-confessed geek, he loves most franchises and comics, his favourites including Deadpool, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Transformers.
25 year old art teacher and artist Peter Magro has been fascinated by comic art his entire life. His first exposure to comics was The Beano’s Dennis the Menace, as well as the Maltese graphic novel by Victor Pulis, L-Ewwel Assedju 1565. His art is greatly influenced by Marvel and DC, but he appreciates the expressive and minimalist style of Japanese Manga. His skills and techniques vary from ink to paints, as well as digital art, although he prefers to work by hand, since he feels that this makes an artwork more personal, which you can see from the samples from S.T.E.A.M. – Island Under Siege below.
