Titan Comics will publish a new collection of Star Trek stories from Star Trek Explorer next month – some only previously seen by the magazine’s subscribers.
As we previously reported, the collection takes its name from the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine short story written by comic creator Michael Collins, the hardback collection, Star Trek Explorer: A Year to the Day I Saw Myself Die, features fourteen short stories collected for the first time, with a cover by Neil Edwards, including an adventure written by Chris McAuley and Walter Koenig, who played Pavel Chekov in Star Trek: The Original Series and seven feature films.
Other writers will be well known to Star Trek fiction fans, especially Keith R.A. Candido, Greg Cox, David Mack and Una McCormack, for their previous and ongoing Star Trek storytelling.
Michael Collins is of course perhaps better known as Mike Collins, whose many credits include a number of Star Trek comics, Doctor Who comics and storyboards for the TV series, and more.
Artist Philip “Phil” Murphy, who provides the frontispiece for the Star Trek: The Animated Series tale by Rich Handley, “Forewarned and Three-Armed” will be a name familiar to fans of Star Trek: Lower Decks, which he worked on as prop designer at Titmouse LA.
Many of the stories, all presented with a specially commissioned frontispiece by artists including Louis de Martinis, Andy Walker and Pete Wallbank, were initially published in the digital supplement of the long-running magazine.
Star Trek Explorer first launched in 1995 as Star Trek Monthly, which, sadly, will cease publication with Issue 14 in December.
All the stories were commissioned by John Freeman, with invaluable, essential input from John Doherty and Dayton Ward. The collection was edited by Jonathan Wilkins.
