Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse’s Resident Alien is getting collected in a value priced omnibus paperback collection, capitalising on the upcoming SYFY show starring Alan Tudyk, based on the brilliant SF comic, which is due to hit the small screen in Summer 2020.
Living undercover as a semi-retired, small-town doctor, a stranded alien’s only hope is to stay off humanity’s radar until he can be rescued. When he’s pulled into a surprising murder mystery by the town’s desperate mayor and struggling police chief, “Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle” learns more about the human condition than he ever wanted to.
Acclaimed creators Peter Hogan (2000AD, Tom Strong) and Steve Parkhouse (Milkman Murders, Doctor Who) deliver a truly unique SF adventure tale with heart and humour.
Featuring over 288 pages, Resident Alien Omnibus Volume 1 goes on sale 18th August 2020, and is available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and at your local comic shop. This volume collects Volumes One through Three of the eponymous series: Welcome to Earth!, The Suicide Blonde, and The Sam Hain Mystery.
RESIDENT ALIEN TV SERIES DEBUTS THIS SUMMER ON SYFY
The new SYFY show starring Alan Tudyk (Doom Patrol, Firefly, Star Wars: Rogue One) also features Sara Tomko (Sneaky Pete), Corey Reynolds (The Closer), Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley) and Levi Fiehler (Mars). Produced in Vancouver, some of the series is being recorded in Ladysmith, British Columbia, this week, reported here by Victoria News.
Resident Alien is being be produced by Universal Cable Productions through its first-look deal with Dark Horse as new content for its parent company, NBCUniversal, which also own Syfy.
The pilot episode wastes no time in kicking off the action when “Harry,” fresh off his impersonation transformation, is forced to interact with his fellow flesh bags in order to solve a mysterious murder.
“The longer he is on Earth, it starts to play upon him. He starts to feel emotions,” Tudyk told journalists at the Winter Television Critic’s Association Press Tour earlier this month.
“I love the humour in the comic and try to preserve all that,” creator and Family Guy verteran Chris Sheridan said of the comic book source material by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse at NYCC 2019 last year. “I felt like there’s a lot of optimism in the comics. I wanted to capture that [too].
“There’s a lot of great stuff on TV, but a lot of dark stuff [as well]. I didn’t want it to be one of those.”
