Waterstones Children’s Laureate 2013-2015 Malorie Blackman is inviting young creators – including comic artists and writers, who will win prizes donated by The Phoenix – to take part in Project Remix – a competition to find the UK’s best young writers and creatives! Watch the video below to find out more…
Take inspiration from your favourite writers to make your own creative work in response to their books and stories. Write a fanfic, design an alternative cover, reboot their story for your own spin-off comic strip, or even write a piece of original music inspired by their work.
UK residents aged 13-19 years can enter the competition and Malorie herself will be choosing her favourite entries in each category to win some very special prizes – including the chance to join Malorie and friends at the Project Remix award ceremony in London in spring 2015.
Taking part is easy – here’s what you need to do:
- Check out the books, stories, poems and graphic novels on our Project Remix list, and choose your favourite to act as a starting point for your entry
- Create your entry in one of the five competition categories – creative writing; comic strip; book cover design; book trailer; or music
- Take a look at our Project Remix resources – including tips from Malorie plus writers, artists, filmmakers, designers, filmmakers, designers and musicians to help you create your entry, plus guidance for writing fan fiction
