Commando publishers DC Thomson have announced a second collection of Ramsey’s Raiders stories from their war comic, due for release next month.
Another full colour action and adventure comic featuring the Special Raiding Force, this volume collects the third and fourth issues of the classic Raiders’ stories, “the original black-and-white artwork has been reborn with eruptions of eye-catching colour, and blown up to full-sized graphic novel format”.
First introduced in 2005, Ramsey’s Raiders are one of the few sets of Commando characters to make return appearances. The unconventional group of heroes were first thought up by then editor George Low, and have fought their way through over 20 adventures in the title, each scripted by Ferg Handley, with art generally by Keith Page, who sadly doesn’t seem to be working on Commando these days.
Led by the roguish Captain James Ramsey, the Raiders are a motley bunch: two Scotsmen, an Englishman, a Welshman, an Irishman, and an Australian. They play by their own rules and are good at their job — very good — so the Germans have every reason to fear Ramsey’s Raiders!
