Slingsby Bros Ink! offer vintage art prints by David Wright

Slingsby Bros Ink! are currently offering some vintage David Wright Prints through their web site and eBay store, the work of the artist published before he moved on to draw the newspaper strips Judy and his best-known, highly regarded work, Carol Day.

The independent US publisher, who are releasing collections of Judy and Carol Day, available from Book Palace Books in the UK and Europe, recently acquired a wonderful group of vintage prints of his commercial work – pinups, advertising work, and book covers.

As they scan and catalogue the prints they will be posting them on their ebay store and in their website shop, so check back for new additions which, as you would expect, are selling fast.

Do note some of these contemporary prints, published in the 1940s, are quite risque, for adults only. In respect of our more general audience, we only featuring a couple of examples here.

The first releases are a group of prints of Wright’s terrifically popular World War Two pinups from The Sketch.

Measuring about 9 x 12 inches, unless noted, these original prints – which are showing their age, but still look glorious – are not tearsheets, the price of each varying depending on condition. The Sketch printed these separately from the magazine on thin, glossy paper and tipped them in. Recognising the popularity of Wright’s pinups, they presented them in an upgraded and easy to collect format.

These are also not later reprints. These are the original prints distributed with the issue of the magazine at the time of publication. They were printed on thin paper and are getting close to one hundred years old, and inevitably show some handling wear, typically some light creasing.
