Sneak Peek: ZOYA, a new Russian Cyberpunk comic

ZOYA by Adam Lumb and Raymond “Monds’ Agustin

ZOYA is a new Russian Cyberpunk comic from out of Sheffield, the creation of UK-based graphic novelist Adam Lumb and Raymond “Monds’ Agustin, who hails from in Manila in the Philippines.

The comic is to be published in 2021 by Rich and Strange Press, the imprint owned by Adam Lumb, creator of The Tide graphic novel series.

“This is Cyberpunk Couture,” Adam pitches. “Cafe culture – made cyber. In Russia.”

Written and produced by Adam, the book will be drawn, inked and coloured by Monds, with lettering by Rob Jones, with logo design by US-based film poster designer (and The Mandalorian extra) Scott Saslow.

“Putting together this creative team to tell this story has been a truly worldwide talent hunt throughout 2020,” says Adam “both exhausting and exhaustive. I’m incredibly lucky to get to work with these people.”

It’s also the first comics project that the writer/artist Adam has not drawn himself.

“This science fiction script is one I’ve been developing for the last few years whilst working on drawing The Tide,” he explains. “This year the pieces of the story finally fell into place.

“If you like the films of Luc Besson (Nikita, Leon) you’ll like this book,” Adam enthuses. “If you like the tone of Russian cy-fi like Babylon AD and the grit of Night Watch and Day Watch you’ll like it. If you like films like Salt and the works of Alex Garland, you’ll like it.”

The book will launch on Kickstarter in 2021 and you can sign up now via the Prelaunch page so you don’t miss first day deals for the campaign.
