Three talented creators have combined forces in a Kickstarter crowd funding project that aims to bring a number of strips pitched to Mark Millar and Titan’s CLiNT title to print in a collection titled SPOD! Oddities From Space.
“In a nutshell. we have gathered together 25 strips that were originally submitted to Mark Millar’s CLiNT short run Space Oddities feature,” says Jimmy Furlong of their SPOD! Kickstarter project.
Mark Millar put out an appeal for sci-fi shorts no longer than five pages with a sting in the tale in the run up to the launch of the comic magazine, but not many of the strips actually appeared in the title and that aspect of the title was dropped shortly into its run.
“A few of us from the Millarworld forums thought it was a travesty that these great tales were left to languish in a cyber limbo,” says Jimmy. “We decided to get proactive and gather them into one book and try and print it ourselves.
“We have some incredible contributors from some top talent including Monty Nero, Jeff McComsey and Neil Gibson to name three.”
Gordon Robertson and Blas Bigatti are working with Jimmy on making the collection a reality and are looking to raise £1500 to publish SPOD! Oddities From Space – a 130+ page full colour trade paperback graphic comic filled with 25 original stories of suspense and terror in a universe gone horribly wrong.
“This is our first Kickstarter campaign so please be patient with us,” says Jimmy. “Everyone involved, from the printers to the distributors are professionals and have had years of experience so even if we can’t promise that there won’t be any mistakes, we’ve worked very hard to make sure that if there are, there won’t be many!”
