Those crazy comic creators artist Danny Cushion and professional musician JP Rodell, whose love of cult TV and classic British comic annuals knows no bounds, have just published a wonderfully silly, hardback limited edition of their Dan Dare spoof strip “Buttocks Rogers“.

Not yet available more widely, The Buttocks Rogers Annual includes the entire “Buttocks Rogers” storyline so far, on a hunt for the kidnappers of seminal rock band Mott the Hoople; “Cockhead Smith” an adventure of the fowl-mouthed cockerel-headed detective; “The Arse Kickers” a daft but very funny dig at “The Professionals”; and the utterly bonkers “Bread and Butler”, Time Agents from the Chatham Dimension.

Fans of JP Rodell and Danny Cushion may recall these tales were originally serialised in Buttocks and the Cream Filled Chimp, published back in 2007* (read on to see what happens if you type that into Google), but this current edition makes for an enjoyable new collection, and paves the way for further adventures, where, we are told we will discover the answers to why a chicken that looks like a chicken won’t cluck…
Let’s hope this Annual becomes more widely available soon. You know you want one!

All these very silly but enjoyable stories feature cameo appearances by a host of TV and film stars in bizarre walk on roles (mostly in the best possible taste!), from Barbara Windsor and Larry Grayson through to Morecambe and Wise, and many more. Plus there are some silly game pages, too – all great fun!
Danny tells us wider circulation of this indie gem is a possibility, but it depends on what Mr Rogers has done with their Amstrad…
