Star Trek: The Exhibition will beam in to Blackpool at the end of June (Thursday 30th June).
Designed by the stage designer Andrew Edwards, The Exhibition will be an experience for fans and families to visit, as it takes audiences on a journey through Star Trek‘s 50-year history with original props, costumes, scripts and photographs that have never previously been seen in Europe, many from private collectors, as well as the opportunity to step aboard a spectacular recreation of the iconic bridge from Star Trek: The Original Series.
Authentic Star Trek artefacts from all five television series and 12 Star Trek feature films are in the Exhibition, including the new film directed by J.J. Abrams. Together, these components offer Star Trek fans and novices alike an opportunity to experience first-hand the imagination, artistry, technology and meticulous craftsmanship that have made Star Trek one of the most enduring science-fiction franchises in history.
The Exhibition will be open daily until Sunday 6th November. And, on Friday 2nd September, the famous Blackpool Illuminations will celebrate Star Trek by showcasing a new light feature on the Golden Mile, which will be seen from many miles into space.
“I am delighted that Blackpool’s Promenade has been chosen as the location for this new attraction,” says Councillor Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council. “Star Trek is hugely popular around the world so I am sure this exhibition will be prove a big hit with visitors to the resort.”
“The Exhibition is the ultimate experience for fans and first-timers,” says the company behind it, EMS Entertainment, who have taken the Exhibition all over the globe since 2011, when it was seen at the Kennedy Space Center. “It’s like having your own personal ‘holodeck’ to place you inside the excitement, drama and imagination of Star Trek.
“Come aboard the bridge of the Enterprise, sit in the Captain’s chair, see the actual props and costumes used in the TV series’ and films, and enjoy one-of-a-kind displays, interactive kiosks, rare photo opportunities and unique adventures. Excite your kids. Inspire your spouse. Reconnect with your own spirit of adventure. Boldly go.”
