The second Swansea Comic and Gaming Convention takes place at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea on 27th May 2017.
A “convention for the community by the community”, the event was founded by prominent members of the local geek community, who wanted to give a little back to their supporters.
Held for the first time in 2016, SCGC incorporates various aspects of geek fandom into the convention, including (but not limited to) comics, table-top and board gaming, cosplay and video gaming.
The aim of the SCGC is promote creators both new and old from these areas and to also support and raise awareness for their chosen charity Maggie’s Swansea.
Their conventions offer many involving activities including gaming demos (both video gaming and table top and board gaming); fun and interactive comics activities such as the Swansea Comics Collective’s legendary wall comic; and cosplay panels, competitions and parades, various raffles.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
