DJ Murphy – also publisher of Horse&Rider magazine The Trash Pack and AniMagic – have signed a deal with Lisle International for a new monthly magazine based on girls’ property, The Zelfs.
The Zelfs, a new girls’ brand created by Australian toy company Moose, was first introduced to the UK in 2013 by Character Options who distribute the master toy line, which has has been so successful that 2014 will see the launch of a licensing programme.
The Zelfs are very similar to the much-loved Trolls figures – but these are magical fairy elves who each have their own distinct look and personality trait to match. There are several varieties to collect, ranging in price and size.
A preview of the Magazine was circulated to Zelf fans last year and Midlands-based fan Sarah, author of the MumOfThree blog reports it includes activities, colouring in pages, stories, posters and information and kept her daughter Chloe happily entertained for ages.
The magazine will apparently be priced at £3.99 and it will include a free Zelf cover mount and some extra gifts. Sarah reckons it’s :”a perfect something for long car journeys this summer or just for entertaining the children whilst on holiday.”
Lisle International, who are also agents for properties such as Temple Run, Andy Capp and Almost Naked Animals, hopes DJ Murphy’s The Zelfs magazine will build the awareness of the property and delight fans with new character stories, activities, and opportunities to add to their collection with a Zelf covermount.
The publication will target an audience of girls aged five and above and will be available at retail from autumn 2014.
Speaking of the news, Francesca Lisle-Grimshaw, Lisle International commented: “Last year we announced a deal with DJ Murphy in connection with another popular Moose brand, The Trash Pack and we are delighted to be working with the DJ Murphy team once again.
“The brand new Zelfs publication is a great experience for fans to get even more interaction with the brand and will further grow the popularity of The Zelfs. This property is continuing to build in the UK and Eire and has just seen a brand new series of themed figures launched – the Masquerade Zelfs.”
Abi Cannon, DJ Murphy added: “From the moment we saw The Zelfs at London Toy Fair last year we were convinced of its potential in the publishing sector. The content available to us holds so many possibilities for our audience as Moose intrinsically knows what sparks the imaginations of the children they ultimately want to reach with their brands. There is little doubt that The Zelfs represent another exciting year ahead for DJ Murphy.”
