It seems such a long time ago now, but back in 2015, British independent comics publisher Time Bomb Comics launched their first 96-page volume of Bomb Scares – which was also their very first successful Kickstarter pre-order campaign, and led to many more. Well, the horror anthology is back, the latest volume featuring a stunning cover by Phil Winslade (2000AD, Judge Dredd Megazine).
Six years and 16 successful campaigns after the successful campaign for a smashing collection of horror comic stories, publisher Steve Tanner is getting ready to launch the pre-order campaign for Bomb Scares Volume Three.

“Paul H Birch has assembled another 96-page Bomb Scares anthology and it’s being published in October,” Steve says. “This latest volume includes 15 complete stories and has a frighteningly good cover illustration by none other than Phil Winslade.”
In further good news for horror comic fans, Paul himself tells us that, editorially, Volume 3 is already complete, “and Volumes Four to Six (and beyond) are well into production, so I trust the anthology’s readers will get to enjoy the book more often.”
In 2015, Time Bomb used crowd funding to launch the first volume of Bomb Scares, offering 18 startling horror stories horror, but like the book itself, in a totally unique way. The book was going to be published regardless, but Steve used Kickstarter’s funding system as an experiment to seek the viability of alternative distribution routes.
It worked – within 37 hours of launch, Bomb Scares had reached its original financial target, and with little promotion through its brief 20 day funding period nearly tripled that amount. The book then made its official convention debut at London MCM Comic-Con with healthy sales ensured and admirable comments made aplenty.
Limited copies of the print edition of both Bomb Scares Volume One, with a cover by Richard Elson and Dave Kendall, and Volume Two, with a cover by John Erasmus, are still available.
