Titan Comics and Legendary Comics have released more information and teaser material for Return To Skull Island, a brand-new comic book series further expanding the “Monsterverse”. Written by Simon Furman (Transformers) with art by Christopher Jones (Doctor Who: Once Upon a Time Lord), the upcoming series is set in Legendary’s Skull Island: The Animated Series universe, currently streaming on Netflix.
Issue #1 will debut in comic shops next month, on sale from 18th June, 2025, featuring covers by Inhyuk Lee and Christopher Jones, bringing fans deeper into the world of Kong and the mysteries of Skull Island.
The first issue was solicited in the April edition of Diamond PREVIEWS, and fans can pre-order from their local comic shop and Forbidden Planet (Affiliate Link) for UK and Europe.
Legendary’s Monsterverse is an expansive story universe of cross-platform experiences centring around humanity’s battle to survive in a world facing a catastrophic new reality – the monsters of our myths and legends are real. Beginning with Godzilla in 2014 and continuing through 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, and most recently the record-breaking Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the Monsterverse has accumulated over $2 two-billion-dollars at the global box office and expanded into the highly-successful event series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for Apple TV+. Including an inter-connected world of video games, graphic novels, toys and live experiences, the Monsterverse represents epic entertainment on the largest possible scale.
Set against a backdrop of giant monsters and deadly intrigue, Return to Skull Island follows a group of survivors stranded on the perilous island in the South Pacific. As they uncover its dark secrets, they face life-threatening challenges and fight for survival in a land where every creature is a threat – including Kong himself.

“Skull Island’s shadows hide untold stories, fierce battles, and creatures unlike anything seen before,” enthuses Titan Comics editor Louis Yamani. “Marrying brilliant illustrations and epic storytelling, we see a new side to Kong and his kingdom. We can’t wait to share more this June!”
“Partnering with Titan Comics on Return to Skull Island allows us to expand the Monsterverse in exciting new ways,” adds said, Robert Napton, SVP & Publisher, Legendary Comics. “Bringing Skull Island from TV to comics lets us dive deeper into its mysteries, offering fans thrilling new adventures in Kong’s world.”
