(via Andrew Luke): TitanCon Belfast returns in September, with tickets going on sale now from £15.
The organisers can’t say too much about who’s coming, but comic creator and self publisher advocate Andrew Luke tells us he can confirm several popular guest scribes have already committed to making an appearance. There’ll be more new faces from the world of comics, too, including Andrew, whose many credits also include the 2011 documentary The Invisible Artist on the history of contemporary comic book culture in Belfast for local television station, Northern Visions.
In 2011, Andy was also the driving force behind the Belfast Comics Barcamp, a partly-structured partly-improvised “unconference” event generated by participants. Speakers included Paddy Brown, Gareth Watson and Ciara Brennan, with Luke talking on Writer Pitching and Digital Distribution.
TitanCon will be kicking things off on Friday evening with their popular Literature Night featuring readings from author guests. This relaxed and informal gathering is the perfect opportunity to mingle with the other attendees, catch up with old friends or make some new ones. They’ll also be offering a preview of our Art Show featuring incredible pieces of art by talented local and international artists available for purchase.
The convention itself takes place at Belfast’s Wellington Park Hotel on Saturday 13th September, with doors open at 9.00 am and TitanCon runs till 6.30 pm with evening entertainment from 7.30 pm through till 1.00 am including the highly competitive Masquerade contest. Remembering that the Game of Thrones TV series is based in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, the convention highly recommend sticking around till late for a rare chance to see some of the Game of Thrones cast members on the dance floor.
TitanCon 2014 programming will feature discussion panels, crafting workshops, photo sessions with the guests and, of course a signing session,
