Trevor von Eeden original art for sale

In 1976, at 16, Trevor von Eeden became DC Comics first black artist, youngest artist, and co-creator of their first black super-hero, Black Lightning.

He currently works for Marvel Comics, drawing, among other things creating “VeVe” variant comic covers – limited edition, officially licensed digital collectibles (NFTs). (Each digital comic is a fully readable issue and typically comes in multiple variant covers, each with a different level of scarcity or rarity).

Now, alongside his pro work, Trevor is selling his physical prelims and other works through Raremarq, an auction site also used by comic artists such as Dan Brereton, Jim Cheung, Frank Cho, Mike Krome, Adam Kubert, Ryan Ottley, Sabine Rich, John Royle, and many other professionals.

Here’s just three of Trevor’s works currently offered on the site: these are all being sold by Trevor himself.

11 x 17 cover art for The New Mutants #13 VeVe Digital Reprint Cover by Trevor von Eeden, featuring the first appearance of Cypher - albeit in his secret identity as Doug Ramsey. Various languages of the universe will be digitally added to the concentric circles behind him, symbolizing his ability to understand any language in the universe – and his six arms are visually symbolic of the same... Either that, or he's been bitten by a radioactive X-spider... it's been known to happen!

Raremarq was founded in 2022 as the easiest way to get alerts for new listings on original comic art sites. This has helped hundreds of comic fans buy original art from 80+ artists, artist reps, and websites, but then the team behind the project realised the bigger and more important problem to solve was an easier, safer, modern way to buy, sell, auction, and connect over comic art. The Raremarq marketplace launched in 2024 and has quickly become a fast growing comic art marketplace.

Not only is Trevor von Eeden the co-creator of Black Lightning, older readers may recall his work on Batman. I had the privilege of working with Trevor on a sadly unpublished “King Cobra” short story for STRIP Magazine, the full final art completed before the project imploded, but despite it never being published, we have kept in contact since. Trevor has shared several of his incredible commissioned cover recreations with me for Marvel (Black Panther, Fantastic Four, and more), which are a frequent delight to receive in the mailbox.
