UniVerse To Launch Anthology Seven At Dunfermline Comic Con

The University of Dundee’s comics imprint UniVerse will be launching the seventh edition of their Anthology publication at this weekend’s second Dunfermline Comic Con.

Anthology editor and university lecturer Phillip Vaughan told us, “Anthology Seven is a 176 page graphic novel featuring the work of the students on my Level 3 Comics & Graphic Novels Module at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, part of the University of Dundee.”

Now published annually, Anthology has been running since 2012 featuring students’ work internally coupled with a cover by a professional artist associated with the University of Dundee or its comics courses. Covers have included work by Kate Brown, Dave Gibbons, Dan McDaid, Colin MacNeil and now Saltire and Batgirl And The Birds Of Prey artist Claire Roe.

Phillip said of the title’s latest cover artist, “Claire was one of the first students I taught on the module back in 2011, and her work featured in the first ever Anthology graphic novel, so it was great to get her to do the cover for the latest book!”

Claire wrote and illustrated the six page SF story “Subject Nine” along with a page of concept art and a US comic style cover for the tale in the original Anthology One published in 2012 and reviewed here on downthetubes.

Claire Roe will also be appearing as a guest at the Dunfermline Comic Con which is on at the town’s Glen Pavilion on Saturday 11 March 2017 from 10am to 5pm.
